Last week we mentioned that Jason Fulford’s photographs had popped up in an unexpected venue: a funky new cookbook, Eat Me: The Food and Philosophy of Kenny Shopsin. It’s the debut cookbook by Fulford’s father in law, Shopsin, whom New York Magazine dubbed “the profane prince of the New York short-order world.” Unsurprisingly, the far-from-conventional cookbook is garnering lots of attention and acclaim, thanks in no small part to the 250+ original photographs by Fulford. PDN Magazine was sufficiently impressed to dedicate an entire feature to Fulford’s unique spin on culinary photography. “Jason Fulford the Food Shooter?” can be read in its entirety on the PDN site; meanwhile, The Mushroom Collector, Parts 1 and 2, Fulford’s second exhibition at QPCA, opens February 5, 2009.
