Portland OR - July 31, 2007 Quality Pictures is pleased to present a solo exhibition of photographs by Atlanta-based artist Angela West. This will be West’s first exhibition in the Pacific Northwest. The exhibition opens August 2nd and runs through September 29, 2007. Ms. West will be present at the August 2nd First Thursday reception from 6 - 9 pm. The gallery will also be showing a selection of works by Portland artists Mark Hooper and Larry Cwik.

West will be showing works from a number of series taken over the last decade. West’s themes in these works explore the joys and anxieties associated with adolescent and teenage years set against a backdrop of small-town rural Georgia. West, a graduate of the Yale MFA photography program creates beautiful, lush imagery which often stands in stark contrast to the emotionally charged subject matter.
